Fascinated by the journey of each painting, I give the pigments freedom to roam on the canvas. I combine ancient traditional techniques with modern paint effects. Born in Kenya and growing up in an artistic environment surrounded by nature, I will always be inspired by the colours and textures of Africa.

My paintings are ethereal exploring concepts of the fragility of earth and wildlife vulnerability. I attempt to capture fleeting moments in which my subjects appear in abstracted backgrounds.

Studying for 3 years at Charles H. Cecil Studios in Florence, 'La Città d'Arte’ l learnt a philosophy of seeing and old techniques for portrait painting from life. It’s a silent conversation between sitter and painter. You must trust your eye to capture the true essence of ones character through colour and expressive mark making.

I recently did an online course at the Slade School of Fine Art. I am currently painting in my studio in Nanyuki, Kenya.
